When we established our company ASSET CONSULTANT COMPANY LTD. back in 1997 the idea and concept were to assist Thai companies that had landed in severe problems due to the unexpected crisis that arose that year. Most of them had financial troubles due to the circumstances that applied to the Asian Business World during the years of growth and the easy access to borrow capital from local banks, which did not pay a sufficient amount of attention to the importance of accurate and modern credit policies. When almost over night more than 50 financial institutions were declared bankrupt many small and medium sized operations found themselves in dire straits and they desperately needed advice and help since only few had any experience in crisis management.
We were retained to carry out some " often very tough " assignments and did succeed in finding financial institutions interested in either direct investments or to act as a financial partner only but then entirely concentrated on companies, which could present proper accounts and reliable Business Plans and Budgets for the nearest future. We mainly found interested parties outside of Thailand, e.g. via foreign owned banks in Singapore as well as interested investors in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong and the reason was simple, the potential investors in this part of the World knew the Asian mentality in contradiction to many interested investors in Europe, who in the end could not always accept the Asian culture and the way business is done in this part of the world. During the tough period we learned a lot and gained a considerable amount of experience and a much deeper insight in the social and cultural structure of Asia being so different from the Western values and concepts.
A long the way we have carried out other tasks such as sourcing, advice to medium sized local companies on export, financial studies aimed at improving the overall profit picture as well as having been engaged in the production of Business Plans, Investment Prospects, Feasibility Studies and advices on General Management. Major clients within the Hospitality Industry (Hotels, Resorts, Wellness Centres and Golf Courses)
From January 2008 we decided to separate Consulting/Advisory Services from Exports of Thai products to Europe using the Name of OCCO CONSULTING in order to avoid confusion about our activities.
